When dental pain or injury strikes, quick access to care can make all the difference. At Daniel Dental Studio, we offer same-day emergency appointments for both new and existing patients, providing prompt relief and solutions when you need them most.
If you're experiencing dental pain or injury, call us right away at (203) 803-1645 so we can assess your situation and schedule you for the earliest available appointment. Many dental emergencies are time-sensitive, and getting prompt care can mean the difference between saving and losing a tooth. Our approach focuses first on relieving your pain, then addressing the underlying problem with appropriate treatment options.
Persistent, severe tooth pain often indicates infection or advanced decay reaching the inner pulp of your tooth. We'll identify the source of your pain using digital imaging, provide immediate relief, and recommend appropriate treatment such as a filling, root canal, or antibiotic therapy.
Broken teeth can range from minor chips to serious fractures exposing the sensitive inner layers. Depending on the severity, we may repair the tooth with bonding, a crown, or in more serious cases, root canal therapy followed by a crown to preserve the tooth.
A knocked-out tooth requires immediate attention—ideally within 30-60 minutes—for the best chance of saving it. Gently rinse the tooth without scrubbing, try to place it back in the socket, or keep it in milk while heading to our office.
When a filling or crown falls out, your tooth is vulnerable to sensitivity and further damage. We'll evaluate the tooth, provide a temporary or permanent solution to protect it, and recommend the appropriate restoration to maintain your tooth's health and function.
A dental abscess is a serious infection requiring prompt treatment to prevent spreading. We'll drain the infection, prescribe antibiotics if necessary, and address the underlying cause, typically through root canal therapy or, in severe cases, extraction.
You should seek immediate dental care if you're experiencing severe pain, significant swelling, bleeding that won't stop, a knocked-out or very loose permanent tooth, or any dental injury following trauma to the face. Infections accompanied by fever, facial swelling, or difficulty swallowing or breathing require emergency care—in severe cases, go to the emergency room. If you're unsure, call our office and describe your symptoms; we can help determine the urgency of your situation and schedule you as soon as possible.
For temporary relief from a toothache, rinse your mouth with warm salt water (½ teaspoon salt in 8 ounces of water), take over-the-counter pain relievers like ibuprofen or acetaminophen as directed, and apply a cold compress to your cheek for 15-20 minutes at a time. Avoid placing aspirin directly on the gum, as this can cause tissue damage. If the pain is caused by something caught between your teeth, try gentle flossing to remove it.
While not all dental emergencies can be prevented, many can be avoided with proper precautions. Maintain regular dental checkups so we can catch and treat small problems before they become painful emergencies. Wear a mouthguard during sports activities to protect against injuries. Avoid using your teeth as tools to open packages or bottles. Don't chew ice, popcorn kernels, or hard candies that can crack teeth. And most importantly, don't ignore warning signs like mild toothaches, sensitivity, or small chips—addressing these early can prevent them from developing into full-blown emergencies that require urgent care.
